A new woman-focused studio on Bleecker Street offers Pilates, yoga, and community events for all levels.
On a quiet stretch of Bleecker Street in Jersey City Heights, a new kind of fitness studio is taking root. PETALED, which opened its doors recently, isn’t just another place to sweat — it’s a space where Kourtney Patterson, a longtime fitness instructor, hopes people will find more than a workout. They’ll find a community.
Patterson has been teaching Zumba, spin, and bootcamp for years. She always dreamed of opening her own studio. That dream became reality at 6 Bleecker Street, where she’s created a boutique fitness space that feels personal and welcoming, especially for women.
“After years of teaching, training, dedicated education and personal practice, I realized that fitness is more than just a workout, it’s a journey of self-discovery and confidence,” Patterson shared on the studio’s website. “I started this community to create a space where fitness feels personal, empowering, and accessible to everyone, no matter where you are on your path.”
PETALED offers a range of classes, including springboard yoga and Pilates, plus one-on-one training. The springboard Pilates is a favorite — a piece of equipment that uses resistance springs to help you stretch, strengthen, and tone. Even if you’re new to Pilates, the studio’s approach is meant to meet you where you are. Classes are available in bundles, from single sessions up to twenty, so you can try before you commit.
The studio’s schedule is built for real life. Classes start as early as 6:15 AM and run as late as 7:15 PM on weekdays, with Saturday sessions from 8:15 AM to 10:15 AM. That means you can fit a workout before the school run or after a long day at the office.
But PETALED is about more than just exercise. Patterson has been organizing community events like Saturday Strides, a group walking event that teams up with local businesses like Cali Shakes. She’s also hosted men’s Pilates events and has plans to introduce classes for senior citizens. The studio regularly gives back, too — think school supply drives and food donation drives.
For Hudson County residents, this studio is a sign of how the Heights is evolving. It’s a neighborhood known for its tight-knit feel and its hills, but not always for its fitness options. PETALED adds to a growing list of local studios, giving people a reason to stay close to home for their wellness routine.
“The space is spacious and has a wall stacked with springboards,” said Jasmine, a staffer from Hoboken Girl who visited the studio. “It’s the perfect spot to bring a friend along, though it’s still great for a solo session.” The studio also has a small shop selling bodysuits, leggings, and other workout gear — all available online too.
Patterson’s approach is inclusive. She wants everyone, no matter their fitness level, to feel comfortable walking through the door. That’s a promise that resonates in a community where people are often juggling work, family, and time for themselves.
“Fitness is more than just a workout,” Patterson said. It’s a chance to connect with yourself. In a city that moves fast, PETALED offers a place to slow down, breathe, and build strength — physically and mentally.
If you’re curious, the studio’s schedule and class packages are online. You can also follow @petaledfitness on Instagram for updates on events and new offerings. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or someone who’s never touched a Pilates spring, this new studio is worth checking out.
PETALED is located at 6 Bleecker Street in Jersey City. Classes are available now, and community events are already in the works. It’s a small studio with a big heart, and it’s exactly the kind of place that makes Hudson County feel like home.
