The Knicks are going outside the Garden with their GM hire, coming to an agreement with Sacramento Kings executive Scott Perry, according to CSN.
Perry was hired just three months ago as Sacramento’s Vice President of Basketball Operations, but was reportedly given permission by the Kings to interview for his “dream job” in New York, which reportedly happened on Thursday.
Perry, 57, has successfully worked as an executive with the Pistons, Supersonics and Magic. He was in the front office when Seattle drafted Kevin Durant, and when Detroit won the 2004 NBA championships.
With the Magic as assistant GM, Perry bumped heads with coach Frank Vogel and left to help run the Kings, who granted him permission to pursue Knicks job.
