“Tonight the Union City Police Department, in cooperation with the North Bergen Police Department, arrested a fourteen-year-old juvenile known to their agency,” Union City and North Bergen Police Chiefs Richard Molinari and Robert Dowd said in a joint statement.

The teen was charged with several counts of juvenile delinquency, specifically committing false public alarms stemming from incidents of threats of violence to a North Bergen and Union City School yesterday, authorities said.

The juvenile was taken into custody without incident.

Dowd and Molinari added that both departments worked cooperatively on the investigation, also crediting assistance from the NJ State Police Cyber Crimes Unit, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Office of the FBI.

Officials declined to get into the specifics of what was said in the threats, but Dowd told us yesterday that the caller threatened to cause “an explosion” and the North Bergen Police Department confirmed that multiple bomb threats were called into the Hudson County 911 center.
