Pop-up tea cart becomes a tearoom at 93 Franklin Street this summer.
Jane’s Matcha, a popular pop-up tea cart at Jersey City farmers markets, will open its first brick-and-mortar tearoom at 93 Franklin Street in The Heights later this summer.
The move marks a permanent home for founder Jane Yang’s handcrafted matcha, offering the community a slow-paced tea experience with premium Japanese teas and from-scratch food.
The business, founded by Heights resident Jane Yang, launched as a farmer’s market pop-up in May 2024.
Every matcha will be hand-whisked to order using traditional tools and ceremonial-grade matcha sourced directly from Japan.
‘Everything we do is made by hand on purpose – the matcha, the syrups, the ceramics on the walls,’ said Jane Yang, founder of Jane’s Matcha.
Impact: The Franklin Street space will include a food program with baked goods, onigiris, and shokupan sandwiches, developed with Jersey City chef Joe Piccirillo.
What Happens Next: A grand opening date and business hours will be announced in the coming weeks; updates will be shared on Instagram @janesmatcha.
The Heights community, which supported the cart from its early days, can expect a new place to slow down and connect over handcrafted tea.
