City expands arts programming to include adults 18+ with acting, drawing, and salsa courses.
Hoboken is launching its first free adult art classes this fall, with registration now open for three new programs. The Division of Cultural Affairs announced the initiative on August 7, expanding arts access to residents 18 and older.
Previously, city-sponsored arts programs were limited to children and seniors, leaving working-age adults without creative outlets. These classes aim to fill that gap and may lead to further adult programming in the future.
The three new courses are Adult Acting, Adult Drawing, and Adult Salsa, each running for eight weeks from September 21 through December 11.
Classes will be held at multiple locations including the Multi-Service Center Senior Room, ResilienceCity Park Community Room, Hoboken Dance Academy, and The Drum Den.
This addition gives Hoboken residents access to art at every stage of life, said Mayor Emily Jabbour.
Impact: All programs are inclusive to individuals with special needs, and families eligible for free or reduced lunch can register at no cost.
What Happens Next: Enrollment is first-come, first-served, and sessions may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met. Residents can register through RecDesk or contact Annie McAdams in the Division of Cultural Affairs.
The city says these classes are the first step toward broader adult arts programming in Hoboken.
