New temporary lot on 15th Street opens September 14th as part of North End Redevelopment Plan.
The City of Hoboken announced Wednesday the opening of 60 new uptown parking spaces on 15th Street between Willow and Park Avenues, available starting Monday, September 14th. The temporary lot is part of the North End Redevelopment Plan to transform the industrial area into a walkable, mixed-use community.
The new parking spots are an interim measure until the city’s first uptown municipal garage opens nearby, which will add 275 public parking spaces. This development comes as Hoboken revamps 31 blocks and plans 729 new residential units in the area.
The lot will operate on an hourly or monthly basis, depending on availability, but monthly rates and application details have not yet been released.
Parking upgrades are accompanied by recent safety improvements, including two-way bikeways, pedestrian refuge islands, and high-visibility crosswalks in the North End.
This parking lot is another step in our commitment to create a more connected, livable North End for residents and visitors alike,’ said a city spokesperson.
Impact: Residents living in the uptown area will benefit from increased parking availability while reducing congestion from cars searching for spots.
