Free hip-hop festival features performances, food trucks, and a book bag giveaway.
Hoboken’s Summer Blockfest will take place Saturday, August 22, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 770 Jackson Street. The free, family-friendly event highlights hip-hop culture and local businesses.
Now in its fourth year, the festival has grown from a small neighborhood gathering into one of Hudson County’s largest community hip-hop events. Organizers aim to support local artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders while bringing residents together.
The festival is presented by What Hoboken Sounds Like and What Jersey City Sounds Like, and was founded by community advocate Victor M. Lopez Jr.
Performers include Ray Pearson, MP14, Taz, Ill Padilla, School of Rock Hoboken, and others. DJs include BriPee, Mister Angel, and DJ Madness.
Impact: Beyond music, attendees can enjoy food trucks, local vendors selling streetwear and art, and a Back-to-School Book Bag Giveaway in partnership with the Hoboken Public School District.
What Happens Next: The event also includes the 2nd Annual Pamela Bates Foundation Community Awards Ceremony. The rain date is Saturday, August 29.
