NYC-based sewing school expanding to downtown Jersey City with classes for all ages.
New York Sewing Center, an NYC-based sewing school, will open its second New Jersey location at 190 Columbus Drive in downtown Jersey City in October 2026. The center will offer its signature sewing classes and fashion workshops led by its existing teaching team.
The expansion brings a new DIY and creative space to Jersey City, giving residents a local option for learning sewing, embroidery, knitting, and fashion design. The school, founded by Kristine Frailing in 2014, aims to pass on her passion for sewing to new students of all skill levels.
The new Jersey City location will be the second in New Jersey, following a Montclair store that opened in December 2025.
Classes will include after-school programs for pre-teens, fashion school prep for high schoolers, and workshops in embroidery and knitting, available in one-day or semester-long formats.
Kristine Frailing, founder, said she opened the center to pass on the sewing skills she learned from her great-aunt.
