The NYC-based chain eyes Exchange Place tower for its third Hudson County outpost.

Just Salad, a New York City-based salad chain, is applying to open a new location at 99 Hudson Street in Jersey City’s Exchange Place neighborhood. This would be the brand’s second Jersey City outpost and third in Hudson County.

The move brings a popular healthy dining option to a prominent building that has lacked retail tenants since its completion in 2020. The arrival comes as the area’s retail scene grows, with a Trader Joe’s planned nearby.

Just Salad opened its first Jersey City location in 2017 at 525 Washington Boulevard and a Hoboken location in 2022.

99 Hudson Street, New Jersey’s tallest building, has had an entirely vacant ground floor retail component since opening nearly six years ago.

‘Eat with purpose,’ the company’s slogan, reflects its environmental goals, including a reusable bowl program that eliminates over 75,000 pounds of plastic annually.

Impact: Residents and workers in Exchange Place will gain a new option for salads, wraps, warm bowls, and smoothies, joining other healthy dining choices in the neighborhood.

What Happens Next: No timeline for the opening has been released. Just Salad is awaiting approvals for the space at 99 Hudson Street.

The addition of Just Salad signals increasing retail activity along the Hudson River waterfront.
