Restaurateur John Avoletta plans a fresh dining concept at the former Johnny Pepperoni location by fall 2026.
The team behind Hoboken’s Johnny Pepperoni is permanently closing the restaurant at 219 11th Street at the end of the month, with a new concept planned for the space by fall 2026.
The closure marks the end of a 15-year run for the BYOB Italian spot that was a neighborhood favorite. The new venture, led by John Avoletta of City Bistro and Viv + Jules, could reshape the local dining scene.
According to the team, Johnny Pepperoni will close permanently after this month, with construction already underway at the site.
John Avoletta, owner of City Bistro and Viv + Jules, is behind the new concept, and the team says chef Cliff Crooks will elevate the food.
“We are grateful to the community for its support over the years,” the team said in a statement, hoping regulars will visit before the close.
