The beloved matcha brand soft-opened Wednesday on Franklin Street in The Heights.

Jane’s Matcha, a local favorite born at farmers markets, opened its first permanent location Wednesday at 93 Franklin Street in Jersey City’s Heights neighborhood.

The shop’s soft opening marks a milestone for the brand, which built a loyal following during a year-long residency at The Alps. The new tea room brings hand-whisked matcha and a signature Honeycomb Latte to a neighborhood that supported Jane’s Matcha from the start.

The soft opening runs July 8–11 and July 15–18. An official grand opening is set for Friday, July 24.

Hours after grand opening: Monday and Wednesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shop is closed on Tuesdays.

“I always knew if I was going to do this, it would start right here,” said founder Jane Yang. “The Heights showed up for us on a cold, rainy Sunday before we’d even found our footing, and we’ve been trying to give that back ever since.”

Impact: Residents can now enjoy ceremonial-grade matcha, loose-leaf teas like hojicha and genmaicha, and the return of the Honeycomb Latte — made with house-made honeycomb and local honey from Jersey City’s Swarm King Apiary.

What Happens Next: A food collaboration with Jersey City chef Joe Piccirillo is in the works, featuring baked goods, onigiri, and shokupan sandwiches. A grand opening celebration is expected July 24.

Jane’s Matcha aims to give The Heights a dedicated space to slow down, one hand-whisked cup at a time.
