New Indian restaurant from NYC team opens July 3rd at 25 Christopher Columbus Drive.

Punjab Meet House, a new Indian restaurant led by a Michelin-recognized chef, will open on July 3rd, 2026, at 25 Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City. The restaurant is from the team behind popular NYC spots GupShup and Bungalow.

This opening brings a high-end, pre-partition Indian dining concept to a neighborhood where about 12% of residents are Asian Indian, offering a sit-down alternative to the area’s typical takeout spots.

Owner Jimmy Rizvi, a Jersey City resident, has opened nine other restaurants in the NYC area since 2015, including Bungalow in the East Village, which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.

Chef Vikas Khanna, an award-winning chef and host of Iron Chef India, heads the kitchen for many of Rizvi’s projects.

Impact: The 2,245-square-foot space, designed by Shaila Rizvi with items imported from India, will serve street food, chaat, tandoor dishes, and curries, plus a slow-roasted leg of lamb available with 24-48 hours’ notice.

‘The team wanted to bring a new take on Indian dining to the community, and a change from the casual and takeout spots that he observed,’ according to EaterNYC.

What Happens Next: The restaurant will host a soft opening on Friday July 3rd, remain open for walk-ins through the weekend, then close Monday. Reservations will be available via Resy.

DailyHudson will follow this story as the opening date approaches.
