Philadelphia-based brand expands to Maxwell Place with two clubs planned for the Mile Square.
City Fitness will open its first New Jersey location at Maxwell Place in Hoboken on Friday, July 17. The new gym at 1000 Maxwell Lane brings a full-service fitness option to the uptown neighborhood.
This marks the brand’s first expansion outside of Philadelphia and its first clubs in New Jersey. A second Hoboken location is planned for the Southend Lofts at 38 Jackson Street, giving the company a presence on both ends of the city.
City Fitness, founded in Philadelphia in 2007, currently operates eight neighborhood clubs and serves more than 25,000 members.
The Maxwell Place club will include cardio and strength equipment, an Olympic lifting area, a functional turf zone, and four signature fitness concepts: BURN, FOCUS, SHIFT, and WE/FIT.
‘Every City Fitness club carries the same commitment to training, recovery, and community, but takes on the character of the space and the people around it,’ said founder and CEO Ken Davies in a press release.
Impact: Residents gain access to recovery amenities such as infrared saunas, compression therapy, HydroMassage, cryotherapy, and red-light recovery equipment.
What Happens Next: Founding membership reservations are available with a $1 refundable deposit, locking in rates for two years. An opening date for the Southend Lofts location has not yet been announced.
City Fitness expects to serve Hoboken residents from both locations, with each club reflecting its neighborhood’s character.
