The Afro-Colombian eatery, known for its Patacón Burger, opens at 210 Hudson Street.
The Colonial Grill, a Morristown-based food truck famous for its Afro-Colombian dishes, has opened its first permanent storefront in Jersey City. The restaurant, located at 210 Hudson Street, is now serving its signature menu year-round.
The father-and-son team of William and Kevin Valbuena started The Colonial Grill as a food truck in 2015. Since then, it has gained a loyal following across New Jersey, including a second truck in Hoboken, making this new brick-and-mortar location a milestone for the family-owned business.
The Colonial Grill’s new storefront is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to owner William Valbuena.
The eatery is known for its Patacón Burger, which uses fried plantains (tostones) instead of a bun and is topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and a signature garlic-cilantro, pineapple, and pink sauce mix.
“We are excited to bring our food to a permanent home in Jersey City,” said William Valbuena, owner of The Colonial Grill.
Impact: Jersey City residents will now have year-round access to the truck’s popular dishes without waiting for events or food festivals.
What Happens Next: The storefront operates independently of the Morristown and Hoboken truck locations, and no further expansions have been announced.
The new Jersey City location marks a new chapter for The Colonial Grill, bringing its viral flavors to a dedicated neighborhood audience.
