A homeless man was stabbed repeatedly in a wooded area underneath the New Jersey Turnpike Monday night, authorities said.

Police were stopped by a 39-year-old woman near Newark Avenue and Seventh Street just before 9 p.m. and said her boyfriend was stabbed in “tent city,” an area near Dickinson High School where the victim lives, according to a police report.

The victim was “bleeding profusely” and had multiple stab wounds all over his body. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for emergency surgery and was listed in stable condition, police said.

The 39-year-old brought police into the wooded area, but they were unable to locate a crime scene. The girlfriend said the suspect lives in the same area and is known to the victim, the report states.
